Today is such a stupid stupid day. What does decapitating some guy have anything to do with showing your love and appreciation for people?! WTF? So dumb.
But I do like the idea of spreading love to people, so I made a whole whole whole bunch of cards for people during Icepocalypse 2014 here in GA. I was housesitting for my best friend, and was completely bored out of my mind all cooped up alone. I cooked curry chicken without a recipe (I always use recipes…so it was kinda a big deal), I made pancakes, cookies from scratch, and lots of cards. And I did almost all the laundry in the house. I was quite productive in my boredness. Now I just have to make sure to be all productive for Alan, especially since I haven’t seen him all week.
We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. Our first one together I knew he hadn’t ever had a good one, so I went all out and did all the mushy romantic crap (flowers, candy, rose petals on the bed, notes everywhere, etc). But for the most part we focus on spending quality time together every chance we get, so there’s no real need to do a once a year thing. We give one another little presents all the time; usually saying “happy day ending in -y.” Alan and I try not to put too much stock in material possessions; handmade things are way more important to us. I spent two years making a scarf for him (not two years straight mind you, but off and on it took foreverrrrrr) and I finally finished it for this past Christmas. He loves it! I had so much fun making all these cards for him for today- picking out which papers to use, what embellishments to add, coloring them and writing different sentiments. All the things that it took to make these cards, each part was done with love and thoughtfulness. And the truly lovely thing is that I know Alan will honestly appreciate it.
He just texted me and said that he made me a dorky card, I can’t wait!!!! He bought me new boots for Valentine’s Day/my birthday (it’s in a few weeks). I love them!!! New Angels are wayyyy better than chocolates and flowers. They protect me from Satan (true story.. says so on the bottom of the soles).
Take two seconds and text the people you love. Even if you don’t want to write them a letter or send them a card, take a moment to jot down “I love you” on a sticky note and tack it to their mirror or car window. Call up your best friend and tell them how much they mean to you. Email your mom wishing her a happy day. Do something small for another because it will actually mean a great deal to them.
I love y’all. Have an amazing day!
And remember, steak and a blowjob day (aka Guys’ Valentine’s Day) is March 14th (Pie DAy!!!!)
